I suck at taking photos at dinner most nights. This is often because I live with a hungry husband, a hungry hockey billet and a less than hungry at dinner time toddler that normally dive in before I even have a chance to snap an after photo so my instagram story picture will have to do
Okay it was SO easy and SO delicious!
INGREDIENTS
1.5 lb (ish) of steak, make sure you are able to slice it into thin strips
1/3 cup cornstarch
3 Tbsp olive oil, we will be dividing this throughout the recipe
2 Tbsp sesame oil, again, we will divide throughout
2 Tbsp minced garlic
1 Tsp ginger
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
6 cups broccoli florets ( you could do 5 I just find once they cook and shrink down 6 is better)
Instructions
Slice you steak into thinn pieces (you are going too fast fry these so try to make sure they are no thicker than 1.4 inch
In a large bowl toss your steak in cornstarch until fully covered and set aside
Add 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp sesame oil and ginger to a medium pan. Heat until you smell that delicious garlic 🤤
Add water, brown sugar and soy sauce. Bring to boil for about 3 minutes, reduce and simmer until slightly thickened. I add 1-2 tbsp of cornstarch just to speed up the process + I don’t like a runny sauce so this ensures that isn’t the case.
Add 2 tbsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp sesame oil to a large pan. Dump in your steak and cook for about 7-10 minutes. Be sure not to leave because you will need to be flipping your steak to be sure it is cooked evenly
Add broccoli to your steak and drizzle with sauce and toss so everything is coated. Let simmer for about 5 minutes or until broccoli is cooked to your liking.
Turn off heat and serve over rice.
Optional: I sprinkle sesame seeds on top
There you have it!! After a few attempts at B&B I combined everything I liked from each and came up with this and it is by far my favourite yet!
Let me know in the comments if you tried it!
